Space Night

2013

17 tracks: chillout, downtempo, psychill, psystep, ambient...
Music you could listen to and meditate.
Music that would make you feel calm and relaxed.

With Space Night I wanted to create music like that. Music that could accompany video material of Planet Earth as it is seen from space.

There is a show on German TV by the same name and the music on (my) SPACE NIGHT was written specifically for them.
In the show you can watch NASA Apollo project astronauts, rocket lift offs, EVA, sometimes the ISS flying over certain regions, set to the music of classical composers, chillout electro musicians or sometimes classic 60s Rock.

It was my aim to imitate the style a little, but also to add something of ANTLE to it.

The piano and its different incarnations are featured most prominently on the album, especially on the tracks "Snowflakes in Space", "Cosmic Karma" and "Ad Astra". The training seemed to start paying off musically.

You can download the album at bandcamp.

Genre-wise it is my most diverse album yet.

SPACE NIGHT is also the album I invested the most work hours in - so far. I have been composing, rewriting and rearranging the songs for the most part of 2013, on and off of course, not constantly.
For each song on the album there are probably two which I scrapped for not meeting the standards defined by the SPACE NIGHT setting.

Concerning the cover art, I was allowed to use a cosmonaut picture drawn by my mum Marina,
a painting in watercolours she drew in 1970 when she was just 10 years old.
I think it fits the concept of SPACE NIGHT perfectly.

Space Night is released under the CC BY-NC license, so if you want to use the music for a commercial project, please use my page on JAMENDO.

Enjoy! :)

playtime

2013

Playtime is a full 22 track album of fictional (pc and console) Game Music, written, composed, performed, recorded and arranged by myself. Ranging from ambient and soundscapes to rock and classical, the compositions were influenced by orchestral, western, asian, middle eastern, pop and rock music.

Detailed Track description here. (soon)
You can download the album at bandcamp.

The whole idea behind "playtime" was to pay hommage to the gaming world and its music, while still creating something own, unique and creative. I have done remixes before, but they never really turned out satisfying. I'm much more comfortable writing my own music. This is why I decided to compose music in the style of, instead of just recreating the music of various games I played. What games that might be you ask?
Was it Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, Diablo, The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind or Oblivion?
Well, for the answer you have to listen to the album. Enjoy! :)

Dodonpa EP

2013

Not a real album but a 4 track EP. Dodonpa is available for free at bandcamp. (just type 0 Euro) or get it from this page. While downloading you could check out the promo video for the title track Dodonpa on youtube. Overall, this release feels more "modern" in terms of instrumentation when compared to my previous album.
The new songs feature some samples and I got into sequencer programming and synthesizers. I came to appreciate the Creative Commons licensing model hence this EP is the first of a series that will be released under the CC 3.0 license.

SCHEME LAND

2012

This is my first real release, the 22 track album SCHEME LAND, available for sale at CDBABY. The whole album was a learning process. Recorded everything with a TASCAM DR-1 home recorder.
I tried to compose the songs in 60s singer-songwriter style, hopefully successful. Had a blast playing the different instruments while restricting myself to use mostly analog sources, which was part of the concept of this album: "do (mostly) everything yourself" and "keep it analog". Of course, some samples were so tempting, I just had to use them. In-depth songfacts here.
